Fifty-one Years Experience
In the early 1990's we became the first consultants to design precast/prestressed water tanks. These are photos of the Black Horse 2.0 M.G. tank, under construction near Exton, PA. Precast concrete has two distinct advantages over cast-in-place concrete: 1) Placing the concrete in a flat bed, under plant controlled conditions, provides for unprecedented quality control; and 2) Placing the concrete in a horizontal bed means a thinner wall (typically 8 in.) can be used. This is because extra thickness need not be provided for placing and consolidating concrete from the top of the wall or through windows in the forms.
