These photos are aerial views of the City of Arvada, Colorado 10 Million Gallon Treated Water Storage Reservoir after completion. Note that the top of this tank is being utilized as a recreational area. Four full-size tennis courts, one tennis backboard practice court, and one combined basketball and volleyball area are provided for area residents. There are also planters for small trees on top of this tank. The prestressed concrete roof of the reservoir serves as the finished playing surface.

Because of these recreational amenities, local residents dropped their objections to a water tank being constructed in their neighborhood. After completion of the tank, the neighborhood continued to develop with luxury homes. One family sold their home across the street from the tank site when they heard a tank would be built there. A few years after the tank was completed their former house came back on the market and they bought it back again!
These photos are of two of the 3 sizes of tanks we designed for the wastewater treatment plant in Spokane, Washington. The photo of one of the digesters illustrates the horizontal and vertical post-tensioning used for all tanks of this size designed by our firm. The three closely spaced tendons at the top were used to support a dome roof for this tank. The three closely spaced tendons at the bottom were stressed after placement of the closure strip to help ensure a watertight base joint. The concrete in the walls of these tanks, including the three 45-foot high 10-inch thick digester walls, was successfully placed, without horizontal construction joints, form windows or honeycombing, by proper use of tremies and vibrators.

Six 3.0 million gallon secondary clarifiers being filled for watertightness testing. There was no measurable or detectable leakage from any of these 12 tanks, which is typical for tanks designed by our firm. The reason for this unprecedented success is the attention given to proven and reliable details that enhance watertightness.
